Thyrogen and Your Insurance

Thyrogen® (thyrotropin alfa for injection) is covered by most private and public insurance companies, including Medicare and Medicaid. It is important to note that not all insurers reimburse the same way. Some plans cover Thyrogen as a pharmacy benefit. Other plans may cover Thyrogen as a major medical benefit. Because coverage can vary among insurers, it is important to have your individual benefits verified. The ThyrogenONE service center can help you with this.

ThyrogenONE

ThyrogenONESM is a new ordering and reimbursement services program for Thyrogen. Specialists at the ThyrogenONE service center can assist you and your doctor with understanding the specific requirements of your insurance and how Thyrogen is covered. They can also answer your questions about Thyrogen, the reimbursement process, and how to order the drug. The services provided by ThyrogenONE and the network of Thyrogen specialty distributors can help to make access to Thyrogen fast, simple and direct. You can contact the ThyrogenONE service center by calling:

1-88-THYROGEN (1-888-497-6436).

The center is open 8:00 am to 6:00 pm EST Monday through Friday.

You or your doctor may also request an investigation of your insurance benefits through the ThyrogenONE service center. To do this, simply download and print the T-1 Referral Form (PDF). After completing the form, fax it to the ThyrogenONE service center at 1- 888-326-1002. A reimbursement specialist from a Thyrogen specialty distributor will contact you and/or your doctor to report the results of the benefits investigation and to answer any questions you may have.

Prior Authorization

Occasionally, additional documentation is needed in order to obtain prior authorization for reimbursement of Thyrogen costs. A ThyrogenONE specialist will provide this documentation to you and your doctor or you may download a sample physician letter of medical necessity that your physician can tailor to your needs. If you need to send in a letter like this, it should be submitted to the insurance company along with a statement of medical necessity from your doctor.
