Safety Information Thyrogen® (thyrotropin alfa for injection) is indicated for use as an adjunctive diagnostic tool for serum thyroglobulin (Tg) testing with or without radioiodine whole-body scan (WBS) in the follow-up of patients with well-differentiated thyroid cancer. Thyrogen is also indicated for use as an adjunctive treatment for radioiodine ablation of thyroid tissue remnants in patients who have undergone a near total or total thyroidectomy for well-differentiated thyroid cancer and who do not have evidence of metastatic thyroid cancer. It is a prescription product injected into the muscle. Thyrogen® may not be appropriate for all patients. Please refer to the Considerations for Use section of the prescribing information. The most common side effects reported in clinical studies were nausea, headache, fatigue, vomiting and dizziness. Even with a Thyrogen-stimulated Tg test and WBS, a risk remains of missing a diagnosis of thyroid cancer or of underestimating the extent of disease.
